TODAY: Don's and Gerry's guest is Writer/Director Rod Lurie, a military veteran, author, screenwriter, and director. Rod is a graduate at West Point who served in the U.S. Army as an air defense artillery officer, worked for years as a journalist for print and TV. His irreverent style of expressionâhe once described Danny DeVito as a "testicle with arms"âoften raised controversy and got him banned from a few screenings. Rod has written as well as directed many films, including writing and directing both the critically acclaimed The Outpost, starring Chris Eastwood and Orlando Bloom, as well as the Academy Award Nominated The Contender, starring Cate Blanchett and Gary Oldman.
