A UFO Incident occurred on the night of September 1, 1969 in Berkshire County, Massachusetts,,,, it was Labor Day and more than 250 people reported witnessing the UFO. The incident has been deemed a "significantly historic and true event" by the Great Barrington Historical Society and Massachusetts historians.
My guest Thom Reed is one of 4 Reed family members involved in a historic UFO case beginning in the early 1960s leading up to 1969 when Thom his younger brother his mother and grandmother were all abducted by what is described as a huge brilliant floating light (the size of a strip mall) over the country side near Sheffield Massachusetts. This experience had life altering consequences not only for the Reed family but for Sheffield and the entire nation.
This historic UFO case was assigned a Vallee classification of “CE-4” (close encounter of the 4th kind) with a case category of 3 (physical evidence).
Close encounter of the 3rd kind = Entities have been observed on the UFO
Close encounter of the 4th kind = Witness has been abducted.
The case has many levels and is deeply intertwined and remains one of a few CE-4 cases to be mentioned within the wall of the United Nations.
Thom Reed was inducted into State of Mass. antiquity on November 3, 2015, by State Historians and the Office of the Governor. The Thom Reed UFO Incident became our Nations 1st UFO incident to be officially inducted into the United States as historically significant & true. This type of UFO event induction adorned the front page of the Boston Globe and made ABC News NY. Today there is a Thom Reed UFO Monument Park that sits in his honor and is located in Sheffield Mass.

The UFO
The park…
In 1969, nine-year-old Thom Reed and his family claimed to see a bright light rise from the Housatonic River, then found themselves inside "what appeared to be an airplane hangar," where they saw creatures that "resembled large insects." Supporters of the family erected a memorial to the incident at the Old Covered Bridge in Sheffield, Massachusetts, in 2015. The 5,000-pound memorial was removed by the town in 2019. The incident featured in a 2020 episode of Unsolved Mysteries
