On Sunday, January 23, 2022, at 1 p.m. U.S. Pacific Time, 4 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, the U.S. Transhumanist Party will invite John J. Kerecz to discuss his flight to the edge of space, which he undertook on January 28, 2014, in a MIG-29 aircraft. He launched from Sokol Airbase in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. This endeavor was inspired by his always-present admiration of outer space, and his inability to take no for an answer when it came to the question of whether or not he could get close to it.
In anticipation of the eight-year anniversary of this flight, we will discuss key aspects of this experience, including John’s preparation, the impressions and maneuvers during the flight, and how it affected his outlook on the future and on human potential. In Section XVII of its Platform, the U.S. Transhumanist Party supports space travel in part “for the spirit of adventure and to gain knowledge by exploring the universe,” and this conversation will highlight these aspirations.
John J. Kerecz is the U.S. Transhumanist Party Director of Energy Issues. He was also one of the 2019 USTP Presidential Primary candidates. He lives a life rich in accomplishments, goal-reaching, and harnessing his talents. Though he has an impressive professional and educational legacy, having worked for more than thirty-five years in engineering and technological fields, he is better known by his friends and loved ones as the owner of OSHRadio.com and as an adventurer with well-rounded and fulfilled ambitions. Kerecz also has a passion for the arts; he has authored books (nine of which are listed on Amazon), appeared in various films, and started being a part-time radio and TV personality in the early 1980s. His dynamic range of professional, thrill-seeking, and artistic experiences paint him as a dreamer with no limits.
Kerecz has had an impressive repertoire of world travel experiences, including a multi-country hiking trip on which he visited Tibet, and he had the pleasure of trekking across the land of temples and nature, eventually reaching a base camp at Mount Everest. Other countries on this trip included China, Turkey, and Italy.
