On Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 1 p.m. U.S. Pacific Time, 4 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, the U.S. Transhumanist Party invites Makiko Yoshioka to discuss her research on the health and legal impacts of transhumanism. She will provide a comparative analysis of the situations in regard to the influence of transhumanism on the health and legal realms in France and Japan.
Makiko Yoshioka is a Master’s Degree student at Paris 8 University, specializing in health law with a focus on digital and AI systems. She will provide an overview of her research in these areas and discuss potential future directions for that research.
Makiko Yoshioka plans to analyze how transhumanism is going to develop in the field of health care. From the point of view of a legal expert, she will provide reflections about how to protect human rights. She will compare and contrast the prospects in Japan and France (and the European Union more generally) for technological advances such as exoskeletons, humanoid robots, and nanorobots. Some additional topics analyzed will be the following: (1) procreation and longevity; (2) how medical treatment for heavy sicknesses such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases will influence human rights and civil law (such as contract law) and the medical responsibility of doctors and other health-care workers; and (3) how the position of the “human” will be influenced and modified by the relations among transhumanist, “classic human”, and humanoid robot beings.
In 2022 Makiko Yoshioka has also begun working for Heales -The Healthy Life Extension Society - https://heales.org/
